Tattoo Aftercare
Your tattoo is an investment — take care of it!
Following the right aftercare process ensures your tattoo heals well, stays vibrant, and lasts a lifetime. Here’s a handy guide on how to keep your ink looking its best:
Immediately After Your Session
I will clean your tattoo and apply a protective wrap.
Leave the wrap on for the recommended time (typically 2–6 hours). This helps protect it from bacteria and dirt whilst you get home to a clean environment to wash it.
Once You Remove the Wrap
Wash your hands thoroughly.
Gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water, if you’ve a mild, fragrance-free soap to hand, that’s OK to use as well.
Pat the area dry with a clean paper towel — do not rub.
Let your tattoo air out for 15–20 minutes before applying any product.
Apply Aftercare Ointment
Use a thin layer of a recommended tattoo aftercare product (like Hustle Butter, Bepanthen, or Aquaphor).
Apply 2–3 times daily for the first 3–5 days or as instructed.
Keep it Clean & Moisturised
Switch to a fragrance-free, gentle lotion once the skin starts to peel (usually after a few days).
Moisturize daily — but don’t overdo it. Too much moisture can suffocate the tattoo.
DO NOT:
Scratch or pick at scabs or peeling skin.
Soak your tattoo in water (baths, swimming pools, hot tubs) for at least 2 weeks.
Expose it to direct sunlight or tanning beds while healing.
Use scented lotions or harsh products on the tattoo.
Healing Timeline Guideline (Although This Can Vary Person to Person)
Days 1–3: Redness, tenderness, and slight swelling.
Days 4–10: Peeling and itching begin — don’t scratch!
Days 10–30: The skin may look dull or hazy — this is normal.
Your tattoo will look fully healed after a few weeks, but deeper layers of skin take longer. Be patient and take care of it properly.
